The 2010 Walt Whitman Walk.
The walk will take place on Saturday the 29th of May commencing at 2 pm.
In line with tradition the walk will start at the former bus turnaround at Barrow Bridge, a picturesque location on the outskirts of Bolton. The closest bus route is the 519 bus from Moor Lane Bus station to Johnson Fold At the terminus take a pleasant stroll through Moss Bank Park following the signs to Barrow Bridge The former Barrow Bridge bus turnaround is on your right as you walk down the lane. The bus journey should take around 25 minutes and the buses should be every 10 minutes on a Saturday. You will need 5 to 10 minutes for the walk to the meeting point.
The route of the walk changes yearly and can go through open countryside and moorland so suitable footwear should be worn. It is a good idea to have a waterproof in case of any changes in the weather conditions.
The walk has a number of stops for resting and poetry readings as well as a break for tea and cakes and should be suitable for all people with a reasonable level of fitness.
The walk lasts a number of hours so bringing a little to eat and drink is advisable.
